Two Sign from Simon Kenton

Tiffany Landrum and Malorie Steele join Patriot Soccer

Malorie Steele and Tiffany Landrum signed their NAIA scholarship contracts in the Simon Kenton High School library on Friday.  Both were integral members of a Simon Kenton team that earned a 4-2-0 record in district play, finished the season as 18th District Runner-Up, and made the 9th Region Semi-Finals.

Malorie Steele is the daughter of Jan and Rich Steele.  She played midfield and forward for Coach Chris Barwell's Lady Pioneers squad.  Malorie also played Defender and Midfield for King's Soccer Academy the rest of the year.  "Malorie is a versatile player with strong skills and a good understanding of the game.  She works hard, and is versatile," commented Patriot Coach Paul Patton, present at the signing.  "Malorie will be a good representative of our program and St. Catharine and I think she will have great upside in the years to come.  I am excited that she is joining our program."

Tiffany Landrum, daugher of Dena and Jeff Landrum, is not only the fourth Simon Kenton girls soccer player to play at St. Catharine, she is the second Landrum.  Her older sister, Chelsey, is a current member of the squad.  However, Tiffany's play stands on it own.  She has earned many accolades in her playing career, including "Most Valuable Offensive Player" for the 2006-2007 season and "Best Offense" in 2007-2008.  She also earned her chops at defender, playing the central defender spot for Simon Kenton her senior year.  She plans to study nursing at St. Catharine.  Coach Patton noted, "Tiffany is a player with solid skills and a lot of speed.  She also plays a very tenacious style, despite her size.  I am pleased to sign her today."
