Four Bat Pats Named NAIA Player to Watch

Collegiate Baseball magazine released the 2010 NAIA Players to Watch and four Patriots were named to the list. The list came out at the ABCA Convention in Dallas, TX over the weekend. The Patriots mentioned are Seniors. "We are excited about our team," noted Patriot Skipper Luther Bramblett. "We have a great group of seniors and quality underclassmen. We are excited for these four guys and feel that a handful more should've been on that list, which speaks about the quality group we have."

The players named were Travis Adams (RHP), Nick Holmes (RHP), Brian Jones (INF/RHP) and Alan Stoupa (C). Adams, the all time wins leader at SCC, went 8-3 last year with a 2.20 ERA. He had 63 K's to 16 BB in 69.2 innings. Holmes had a 6-2 slate last year and averaged over a strikeout an inning with 53 in 52 innings. B. Jones led the MSC with a .464 average last year and was the team leader in RBI (50), doubles (18), HR (9) and hits (70). He also had 3 wins with a 4.10 ERA. Stoupa transferred in from the University of Vriginia - Wise, where he batted .317 with (6) doubles and (3) HR.

In their first year as an NAIA institution, the Patriots went 37-14 and won the 2009 USCAA National Championship. They return most everyone from that team and open up February 12th against Williams Baptist College in Walnut Ridge, AR.
