Clarksville Catcher Signs with Patriot Softball

Often times the relationship between catchers and umpires is not an ideal one. But for Kierstin Hall, a 2012 graduate of Clarksville High School, an umpire helped lead her to the next step in her softball career.

Justin Farr, the head athletic trainer at St. Catharine College who is also an accomplished umpire, recognized Hall’s talent as he called behind the plate of some Generals’ games. He mentioned the possibility of playing her college ball at St. Catharine and Hall expressed interest in that possibility.

And that possibility became reality Friday when Hall signed a scholarship to play for Holly Smith’s Patriots at St. Catharine. “She is athletic and comes from a good high school program,” said Smith of her new signee who played for Tim Hauber at Clarksville.

Hall, who was named to the News and Tribune All-Area team her senior year, said she plans to major in elementary education at St. Catharine. She is the daughter of Casey and Chris Hall.
