Patriots Win Pre-Season Scrimmage at Ohio Christian

Victory gives Women's Soccer 1-1 mark to finish pre-season

The SC Patriots Women's Soccer team defeated Ohio Christian University 10-0 on the road yesterday in their final pre-season scrimmage for 2012.  The victory gives them a 1-1 mark to finish the pre-season prior to the first official Varsity match this Saturday versus Louisiana College at the Freed Hardeman Labor Day Tournament.

The Patriots took all of 3 minutes to get used to the surface on Ohio Christian's new soccer field.  After that, they were firing on all cylinders.  Senior Captain, Krista Russell recorded a hat trick of 3 goals and the Patriots had a 6-0 lead in the first 30 minutes of the match.  The Patriots went on to win by a 10-0 margin against a trailblazers team that held them to 2 goals the previous season.  Goals were also scored by Paola Martinez, Kelsey Pendleton, Sarah Castillo, Mallory Arneson, Paige Long, Sara Herbert, and Chelsey Landrum with assists by Chelsey Landrum (2), Kelsey Pendleton (2), Sara Herbert, Paola Martinez, and Krista Russell.  Maggie Grieser earned the shutout in goal.

The Patriots kick off the season on the road at the Freed Hardeman Labor Day Tournament at Freed Hardeman University this weekend with matches versus Louisiana College and host Freed Hardeman University.
