Patriots place 11th in season's first golf tournament

           The St. Catharine College men’s golf team traveled to crooked Creek Golf Course in London, Ky. last week to play in the Bill Sergent Invitational hosted by the University of the Cumberlands. The Patriots finished 11th place in a 15 team field.

            St. Catharine carded a 36 hole total of 640 for the tournament played Thursday and Friday. Cumberlands’ total of 578 was good for first place, nine shots ahead of second place Southern Wesleyan University.

            Nick Patterson was nine over par to lead the Patriots with a 153 total (79-74) which tied him for 31st place in the individual field of 81 golfers. Matt Bloom had a 161 (82-79) followed by Dylan Riley’s 162 (80-82). Ronnie Twigg’s 164 (84-80) and Michael Hardin’s 195 (92-103) rounded out the Patriots’ scoring.

            St. Catharine played at Cherry Blossom Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday of this week in a tournament hosted by Georgetown College.
