Baseball Announces 2013 Schedule

Patriot skipper Luther Bramblett has released the 2013 slate for the St. Catharine Bat Pat squad.  32 home games and 13 games against NAIA National Tournament foe's highlight this year's schedule.  The Pat's also play 11 new opponents during the '13 calendar.

"We tried to get new opponents on our schedule this year," noted Bramblett.  "We also wanted to strengthen our early season and mid-week schedule to better prepare us for the always difficult conference schedule."

The Patriot's open up Feb. 1st in Thomasville, GA with a 4 game series against Thomas University. The following weekend the Pat's are at Freed-Hardeman University and Blue Mountain College for a Tran-South Conference 4 game set.  FHU played in the NAIA Opening round last year.

Then, SC opens up a 9 game homestand in late February with newcomers OU-Chillicothe, NCAA DII Kentucky State University, Huntington University and Ohio Northwestern University.  A road game at perenial power Union College and Kentucky State finishes up the month.

March opens up Mid-South Conference play, as the Bat Pat's host conference power Campbellsville University.  The same week, SC host's national tourney foe Dakota State University, Brescia University and Union College.  This year St. Catharine will play road conference games with UVA-Wise, 2 time National Champion Cumberland University, national tourney participant Lindsey Wilson College and Shawnee State University.  They will play host to MSC newcomer Bluefield College, Univerity of Rio Grande and University of the Cumberlands.

Mid-week games with national tournament participant Asbury University, state rival Mid-Continent University and Berea College.  New to the schedule is Ohio Midwestern College, who will visit for a mid-week double header.  Also on the slate again is NCAA DI Morehead State University.

"We feel that our schedule will be very competitive and a challenge.  Over half of our opponents on the '13 schedule are ranked in the top half in the NAIA ISR.  Our conference will be stronger than ever with the addition of Cumberland University and Bluefield College; and every other team has improved their roster.  Every weekend will be a battle and it will be fun to watch!"
