SC Athletics Aces Inaugural Golf Scramble

By all accounts, the inaugural St. Catharine College Athletics Golf Scramble was a big hit. The tournament attracted 12 teams to Bardstown Country Club at Maywood on October 13th.

“It was a wonderful day, great weather and great golf,” said St. Catharine College athletic director Mike Doig. “It was a good fundraiser but just as important it was a chance to reconnect with many of our athletic alumni.”

The greatest golf of the day was actually shared by three teams, all of which finished up with a score of 58 – 14 under par. By using a scorecard playoff the foursome of Jordan Graham, Alex Carey, Tony Graham and Roger Carey were given the first place honors. The foursome of Chaz Harmon, Tate Harmon, Jeremy Sloan and Kelly Wood finished second and the team of Jake Ford, Matt Timbario, Christy Meyer and Steven Meyer was third.

Closest to the hole awards went to B.J. Newton, Tate Harmon, Scott Deopere and Joan Rizer. Jane Roby and Jake Ford won the longest drive awards.

“Our goal is to get more alumni and members of the community out each year,” added Doig.

In addition, Doig passed along thanks to the following businesses who he said “contributed to the success of the tournament”.

State Farm Insurance and agent Glenn Koger. Lee’s Famous Recipe Chicken – B.J. Newton.  Wells Fargo – Jim Andrews. Lifetouch – Richard Zielke. National Guard. KORT

Physical Therapy. Bardstown Country Club at Maywood – Chris Osborne & Staff.
