Swimmers Show Improvement Through Three Meets
November 15, 2012 Still
with a limited roster, the Patriot swim teams have showed steady improvement in
the first three meets of the season.
“The swimmers we have improved their
times each meet,” said first year coach Lindsey Pfoff. “Now it is just a matter
of getting the others eligible. I hope to have a least four on the women’s team
next semester and one or two more on the men’s team.”
Through the meets during the first
semester, St. Catharine has had just two swimmers, Laura Edelen and Jacob
Williams, eligible to compete for points at each meet although others have
participated independently.
After a scrimmage meet at
Campbellsville University the Patriots swam at Asbury University on October 26th
and at Lindsey Wilson October 27th. At Asbury, Edelen, a sophomore
from Danville, Ky., finished fourth in the 200 yard freestyle in 2:30.34. She
took third place in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:20.16.
At the Asbury meet Williams placed
second in the 100 yard butterfly in 1:04.18. The sophomore from Indianapolis
finished first in the 500 yard freestyle in 6:01.98.
At the Lindsey Wilson meet Edelen
was fourth in the 100 yard freestyle in 13:44.94. She was fourth in the 100
yard freestyle with a time of 1:11.73.
Williams took second place at
Lindsey Wilson in the 100 yard freestyle in 11:49.92. He also finished second
in the 100 yard breast stroke in 1:15.88. He took nearly 18 seconds off his
time in the 500 yard freestyle from the first meet and finished third in 5:44.17.
The Patriots are back in the pool for a two
day meet at Union college in Barbourville, Ky. on November 30-December 1st.
