Bat Pats End Season With Loss In Msc Final Four

12 seniors finished their career as a Patriot Thursday night in a 7-6 loss to Georgetown College in the elimination game on the opening day of the Mid-South Conference Final Four Tournament in Campbellsville. Georgetown scored 3 runs in the top of the ninth inning on a homerun. The Patriots would get a runner on base, but grounded into a game ending double play.

SCC lost to #22 Campbellsville University 14-4, in a game that was closer than the final score. The Patriots had 11 hits and stranded 11 baserunners, failing to get the hits with guys in scoring position.

Georgetown 7 - St. Catharine 6

Brad Krohman (2-2), suffered the loss in relief. Starter Nick Holmes went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs on 5 hits. He had a season high 9 K's. Brian Jones went 3-4 with an RBI and Daniel Bentley went 2-3 with a run. Justin Witt scored a run and had a 2 RBI double. Josh Landers and Chris Smith each scored a run and had an RBI. Philip Dean went 1-2 with a run and a stolen base.

Campbellsville 14 - St. Catharine 4

St. Catharine was led by Kaleb Henrys 2 hit, 2 double game. He scored a run and had a RBI. Chris Smith went 2-4 with a RBI. Ryan Mangione went 2-3 with 2 runs and Josh Landers had 2 hits. Travis Adams (7-4) suffered the loss.

These seniors helped the St. Catharine College Baseball program transition from juco to the NAIA. The past two years, they helped lead the Patriots to a 73-36 record with a USCAA National Championship. Overall, they were 143-61 over their four-year careers.

St. Catharine finished the year with a 36-22 record, 16-11 in the Mid-South Conference. They advanced to the MSC Final Four in their first NAIA post season.
