Former Bat Pat Signs Professional Contract

12th Patriot under Bramblett to sign a contract

Former St. Catharine College Baseball pitcher, Javier Perez, became the 12th player under Bramblett to sign a professional baseball contract or be drafted by a Major League club. Perez signed a contract with the Pecos League of Professional Baseball out of Houston, TX. He will report to spring training the first week of March.

"We are extremely excited for Javy," noted Patriot Head Coach Luther Bramblett. "He was such a competitor for us and we're glad he's getting a chance to continue his baseball career. He's the 6th Mid-South Conference player to sign a professional contract since 2011, which says a lot about the talent in our league."

Perez went 5-4 for the Patriots last year. The lefty had a 2.72 ERA in 76 innings. He struck out 60 to just 17 base on balls. Opponents batted .229 against him in 325 opportunities.

"It's been a dream of mine," said Perez. "I'm thankful for the opportunity and will compete the best I know how to make a team."

He is the third SC Patriot to play in the Pecos League. Former Pats Lee Thompson (LHP) and Kyle Wells (C) both competed in the league. Wells was named to the 2011 All Star team.
