Team Allen Blasts It Way To Winner Take All Game

Team Allen found itself down 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th in game 4 of the St. Catharine College Baseball fall world series and facing elimination and the talent show; but four swings of the bat, they found themselves tied in dramatic fashion.  Joe Joe Simms (Springfield, KY) led off the bottom of the 7th with a double off the left field fence.  Jeremy Turpin (Lawrenceburg, KY) steps to the dish and blasts his second homer of the day to cut the lead to 2 runs.  With one out, Luis Zeledon (West Corina, CA) blasts a solo shot over the left center field fence to cut the lead to one run and then, with two outs, freshman Seth Dunn (Elizabethtown, KY) smashed the first pitch he saw down the left field line for a solo shot that tied the game. 


Team Davis jumped all over Team Allen starter Joel Brockman (Tucson, AZ) scoring 4 runs on 4 hits and a error in the first.  They scored 2 more in the second when Patrick Jones (Lexington, KY) doubled, his second in as many innings, home Carlos Hernandez (Fresno, CA) who tripled.  Richie Stanley (Owensboro, KY) knotched his second RBI single of the game, scoring Jones. 


Freshman Cory Klinger (Rushsylvania, OH) quieted the Team Davis offense, tossing 5.1 innings of no hit ball.  He allowed an unearned run and handed the ball over to Anthony Thorn (Elizabethtown, KY) for the final two outs in the 8th.  Thorn picked up the win.  Freshman Austin Fuqua (Louisville, KY) suffered the loss.


Corey Klei (Edegewood, KY) scored the game winner for Team Allen on a walkoff base on balls earned by Adam Blair (Lebanon, KY).  Senior Ryan Mangione (Lexington, KY had two doubles in the game for Team Allen and Simms went 3-4.  The 8-7 victory, knotted the series at 2 games a peice and set up a winner take all game.
