Goldey Leads in Honors for SC Softball PlayersMay 6, 2013
In looking at final statistics from the Mid-South Conference softball season, the name of Hagan Goldey appears in the top six in nearly every offense category. The senior shortstop from Lancaster, Ky., in addition to making the First Team All-Conference, also joined four other Patriots on the Academic All-Mid South Conference team.
Goldey led the MSC in batting with a .470 average. She was also first in stolen bases (28), runs scored (65) and on base percentage (.553). Goldey was second in the conference in both hits per game (1.50) and triples (4). She ranked third in slugging percentage (.741) and total bases per game (2.36). Defensively she ranked sixth in assists with 2.12 a game.
Nationally, Goldey was seventh in runs scored, tenth in total hits and 14th in batting average.
Sophomore center fielder Brandi Hood, a product of Nelson County High School also had some eye-catching final stats that earned her a spot on the All Mid-South Conference second team. Hood was fourth in the conference in hits (72), sixth in batting (.407), seventh in runs scored (44) and 11th in on base percentage (.435). Nationally Hood ranked 19th in total hits.
Both Goldey and Hood were on the Academic All-Mid South Conference team which requires a minimum of a 3.25 GPA and at least sophomore academic status. Other Patriots to receive the academic honor were Kelsey Brooks, Chelcie Rein and Taylor Steff. Brooks is a sophomore catcher from Bloomfield, Ky., Steff is a junior second baseman from Louisville and Rein is a senior outfielder from Louisville.
