Patriot Baseball Released 2014 Schedule

St. Catharine College Baseball has announced its 2014 schedule.  Patriot skipper Luther Bramblett will be in his 13th year at the helm of the Pats and is excited about the '14 campaign.  "This is by far our toughest slate since we've been in the NAIA." This year, 29 home games and a full Mid-South Conference slate highlight the Patriot Nine schedule.

For the first time in school history, the Patriots open up their season in January, when they play the University of Mobile on the 31st in Mobile, AL.  The Pats continue their southern swing the next weekend, playing Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, TN.  "Both of these programs return quality players and both won 30 plus games last year."

St. Catharine opens a five weekend home stretch on February 14th when Culver Stockton College comes to town.  The following weekend, regional power Indiana Tech University comes to Edelen-Haydon field for a four games set.  "Both of these teams are extremely tough and will give us great competition before we open up conference play."

The Mid-South Conference slate begins with a home series with the University of Pikeville on February 28th.  The Pats follow that up with two more home MSC matchups with conference powers Campbellsville University and Cumberland University. SC hits the road for three straight weekends before playing a home series with national tournament participant Lindsey Wilson College.  The Patriots end the MSC slate with a home series against Shawnee State University.  "Our conference is considered one of the toughest in the country," noted Bramblett.  "We had 3 teams make the national tournament last year, 8 of our 10 teams had a winning record last year and 7 teams won over 30 plus games."

The mid-week slate is highlighted by a road game at NCAA DI Morehead State University.  The Patriot Nine also lock up with regional powers Union College and Indiana Southeast in home and home tilts.  Also, the Pats play in state rivals Asbury University, Brescia University and Berea College in mid-week series.

"Again, this will be our toughest schedule since I've been here," stated Bramblett.  "We wanted to challenge our guys with quality competition to prepare us for our rugged conference schedule and to hopefully help us get to the national tournament."
