Patriots Beat Ohio Christian

The Patriots hosted Ohio Christian on Saturday, October 6. SCC controlled the game throughout and struck early with a goal by Will Meza off a pass from Jonathan Foster in the eleventh minute of the game. Despite dominating possession throughout the half, a breakdown in the SCC defense resulted in an open shot from Ohio Christian midfielder, Tim Jones, who finished it off to tie the score 1 – 1. The Patriots fought back and scored again in the 35th minute when Clint Smith was fouled in the box. Will Meza put away the penalty kick to put SCC up 2-1 at halftime.

The second half was much the same, with the Patriots dominating play, and Ohio Christian goalkeeper, Dominic Lehman making some outstanding saves. The Patriots peppered the Ohio Christian goal with 30 shots for the game, but the score remained 2-1 throughout. Finally, with the time winding down, David Barrett collected a cleared ball from the Ohio Christian defense and lofted a high shot over the keeper to end the scoring. The final was Patriots 3, Ohio Christian 1.
