Middleton Sets Record for Cross Country

Most students don’t go out of their home state when selecting a college, even fewer

change countries. There also aren’t many people out there who can be signed to a college sports

roster after only one season of participating. St. Catharine Patriot, Austin “AJ” Middleton, has

done every one of these, and continues to surprise us time and time again.

He came from Lakenheath England, but he was born in Alabama, and has lived in several

other states including Florida and Alaska. He currently resides in Sacramento, California.

Aj has been a productive member of the men’s cross-country since he joined last year.

He’s broken the school record for fastest 8k race a total of three times thus far, twice of which

were in the last two races. The first time was last year at Wilmington Invitational with a time of

exactly 30:00. This year he beat his own record at the Greater Louisville invitational with a time

of 29:51, and again he beat it in the very next race at Wilmington with a time of 29:35. “I’m glad

to see my training pay off. I hope to keep getting better like this for years to come, and also in

track season”, says Middleton. With one more regular season race coming up before conference,

it’s very possible that we could see his training pay off once again before the year is over, and

not to forget the possibilities that may come this track season as well.
