Softball Hits the Road Again

With no time to rest, St. Catharine Softball Patriots (8-13, 6-8 MSC) traveled to Campbellsville to take on a potent Tiger offense.

Only one day removed from the their longest conference road trip of the season, the St. Catharine Lady Patriots mad the short trip to Campbellsville to battle yet another conference foe. In game one, the Tigers jumped out front early after scoring five runs in the first two innings. However, the Patriots would bounce back in the fourth when Tiffany Wickline (Georgetown, Ky.) pulverized a ball for a two run shot, cutting the lead to 5-2. Unfortunately for the Patriots, the fifth inning became the end of the line, when the Tigers tallied five runs on the Patriots bullpen to win 10-2 via the run rule.

Game two was a much different story for the Patriots as Tiffany Wickline continued to have a great day; only this time it was on the mound. Wickline tossed six and a third innings, surrendering only two earned runs while fanning four. The Patriot hurler was able to hold the Tigers scoreless for six complete, but was victimized by a Paragon two run walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh. Offensively, the Patriots were only able to muster one hit off the bat of Taylor Steff (Louisville, Ky.) in the 2-0 loss.

The Patriots will hit the field again March 26th when the Asbury Eagles come to Salt River Electric Field for a 2 PM contest.
