Gee Tosses Patriots into a Top Five Finish

With basketball season at its end, Patriot star William Bailey (Valley, Ala.) led the Patriot track team to Lindsey Wilson College.
William Bailey proved that he was not only a star on the hardwood Saturday when he dominated in the men’s triple jump, an event in which the Patriots took three spots in the top five, with a 12.92 meter jump, over half a meter farther than the second place finisher. “Will was very competitive in high school on the track” said Head Coach Blake Jones. “He is a natural fit now that basketball is over.” For the Patriots triple jump team, Shaun Gordon (Radcliff, Ky.) and Tyler Dunn (Harrodsburg, Ky.) scored top five finishes, with Gordon nailing a 12.25 meter jump. In other field events Kameron Lackey (Bardstown, Ky.) couldn’t match his stellar showing at Berea as the rain hindered his ability to heave the shot put at his normal rate. However, his 9.94 meter toss place him just outside of the top 10, scoring the Patriots three crucial points.

Brooke Gee (Ashland, Ky.) led the Lady Patriots with a standout performance in the shot put, when she nailed a 9.53 meter throw. Gee’s toss was good enough for a fourth place finish and scored four points for the Lady Patriots. During the women’s high jump the Louisville, Kentucky duo of Michelle Dunaway and Rebecca Just tallied three points for the Pats when they both scored a 1.37 meter jump in the high jump.

The Patriots’ track team will hit the ground running once more when they travel to Danville, Kentucky on April 5th to battle in the Centre College Invitational.
