Patriots Battles Weather in Georgetown

With the conference tournament just around the bend, the Patriot golfers took their clubs to Georgetown to take on the Tigers in the Georgetown College Invitational.

In less than one week, the St. Catharine golfers will invade Maywood Golf Course to host the Mid-South Conference Championships; “this is an exciting time” exclaimed Head Coach Joan Rizer. “Our kids are ready and have gotten better throughout the season.” In their last chance for improvement, Matt Bloom led his Patriot men’s team posting a team leading 79. Despite Bloom’s superb performance, Michael Vuick (Taylorsville, Ky.) stayed right on his heals posting a season best 80 on the tough course propelling the Patriots to a 330-332 lead over the host Tigers.

For the women, Katy Laman (Liberty, Ky.) led the charge posting a team leading mark of 93. However, teammates Ashley McKenty (Benton, Ky.) and Brianna Cornett (Danville, Ky.) stayed close to the Patriot leader, posting scores just over the 100 stroke mark. Following a superb performance on day one of the invitational, the Patriots were set to make the last second improvements for the conference tournament on day two. However, mother-nature did not cooperate and the second round of action was canceled due to weather.

The Patriots will hit the links for the final time this season when they play host to the Mid-South Conference Championships Monday, April 21-Wednesday April 23rd at the Maywood Golf Course in Bardstown, Kentucky.
