Men's soccer loses a tight game versus Freed Hardeman

Tuesday, September 2 - SCC men's soccer hosted Freed Hardeman on Tuesday. Both teams were coming of a game on Monday, but the play was surprisingly crisp. Both teams played solid on both sides of the ball and the Patriots came up with the first goal 37 minutes into the first half when Orest Arendacz slotted the ball past the FHU keeper.

With the halftime score 1-0, the Patriots came out fired up for the second half. They tried to add to the lead, but missed on several opportunities. A counter-attack by Freed Hardeman led to a FHU goal to tie the game with 38 minutes left. The Patriots missed just wide on another shot minutes later. Shortly thereafter, a crowd in the box resulted in a loose ball that was put away by Freed Hardeman to take a 2-1 lead with about 25 minutes remaining. The Patriots continued to battle back and made several attempts to even the score, including a cross into the box in the waning seconds. Unfortunately, they were unable to score before time ran out with the final score FHU - 2, SCC - 1.

The Patriots stand at 0-3 after the weekend with 2 of the losses by only 1 goal. They will next be in action on Saturday and Sunday at the Southern State Shootout in Hillsboro, Ohio.
