Volleyball Brings Strickland Back Home to the Bluegrass

The St. Catharine College Volleyball Patriots snag Paris Junior College transfer, Jordan Strickland and bring her home to the Bluegrass State.

Strickland, a Lexington native, played for Henry Clay High School before continuing her career in college. Out of high school Jordan went to play for Paris Junior College, located in Paris, Texas. Strickland ended her sophomore season at Paris with 343 assists and 175 digs during conference play. During the 2013 season, Strickland helped lead Paris to a 23-12 overall record.

The Patriots are looking forward to having Jordan’s experience and leadership coming into the fall season. While the Patriots have a tough schedule in the fall, they are hoping to finish in the top of their conference. “We are really lucky to be getting Jordan; she already has two years of experience at the college level and can come in right away and make a difference for St. Catharine in the 2014-2015 season” said Patriot Coach Jason McDannold.

During her years at Henry Clay, Strickland achieved many awards including three years All City, District, and Region. In 2011 she was the regional MVP and was named to the All-Tournament team. In addition, she managed back to back appearances on the First Team All-State roster and was named the KVCA regional player of the year in Region 11.

While at Paris, Strickland broke the record for most assists in a set. In addition, Strickland was named to the First Team All-Conference and All Region rosters in 2013. The awards didn’t stop there; Strickland also earned Setter of the Year in her region and the MVP award for the 2013-2014 season.

Strickland will make her first appearance as a Patriot on August 19th when the Patriots open their season with a trip to Centre College to face the Colonels.
