JT Burton Heads to Rocky Top

St. Catharine, Ky. – St. Catharine College Head Men’s Basketball Coach JT Burton announces his resignation after six years at the helm.

The St. Catharine College men’s basketball team received the news on Tuesday afternoon that their coach James Tyler “JT” Burton had resigned from his position at St. Catharine College. JT spent six years as the head coach at St. Catharine, taking over in the first year of the school’s transition to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Mid-South Conference (MSC). Over the six year span Burton recorded a 95-80 record with 50-47 mark in the Mid-South Conference. Furthermore, Burton led the way to the school’s first NAIA National Tournament appearance in 2011, with a repeat performance in 2014 that would lead to an appearance in the round of eight.

Burton will continue his basketball coaching career at the University of Tennessee where he has been named the Director of Player Development by former St. Catharine College coach Donnie Tyndall. “It has been a pleasure to work with JT over the past six years” remarked St. Catharine College Athletic Director Tom Bystrek. “He has led our program to great heights and we wish him well at his new position in Tennessee.”

The Patriots will begin searching for their new coach immediately; information for applicants can be found under the employment tab at
