Jason McDannoldJason McDannold's 16U MAVA squad poses with their third place trophy

McDannold a Winner at Every Level

Volleyball season normally lasts from early August until late October in the college ranks, but for Patriot Head Coach Jason McDannold, volleyball is a year round activity.

Since the end of the St. Catharine College volleyball season, the Patriot’s leader has been not only preparing his Patriot squad for their most anticipated season yet, but has guided his 16 and under Mid-America Volleyball Association (MAVA) squad to an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) national tournament. Just last week the MAVA 16’s held their own on the national stage, taking home a third place finish in one of the nation’s most difficult AAU tournament.

Despite the MAVA 16’s not being McDannold’s college squad, McDannold still pours a lot of emphasis into improving the entire volleyball community; “this is a big accomplishment for these young girls” exclaimed McDannold. “It is important that we as coaches reach out to the younger level to make an impact, for it can only improve our talent level on the upper echelon.”

McDannold and the Lady Patriots will kick off their 2014 campaign when they travel to Centre College in Danville, Kentucky on August 19th.
