Patriots drop home game to Spalding

Friday, September 19 - The soccer Patriots hosted Spalding on Friday. The game was spirited throughout, and the play was fast and furious from end to end. Spalding Struck first off a corner kick when Chris Kittleson put the ball in the net. St. Catharine would even the score with a goal from Orest Arendacz just before halftime.

The second have was much the same for the first 27 minutes, with both teams earning chances, but no one able to put their team up. With 17 minutes remaining in the game, a controversial foul call by the referee resulted in a penalty kick for Spalding. SCC Goalkeeper, Will Johnston made a valiant effort to save the shot, but the shot by Jasmin Lizdo caromed in off the goalpost to put Spalding up 2-1. From that point on, Spalding took control and were able to put 2 more goals away by Dragomir Damnjanovic and Jason Stengel to make the final score Spalding 4, SCC 1.
