Brown Named New SID

You could say that Dylan Brown has taken a slight detour on the path toward his ideal career. The 2012 graduate of Nelson County High School came to St. Catharine College with plans to major in Sports Leadership but switched to Business Management as a sophomore. And now, although he is still pursuing the business major, Brown has migrated back toward his original goal of athletic involvement.

That migration has led the affable college junior to becoming the new Sports Information Director at St. Catharine College, replacing Justin Farr who left to become the chair of the school’s new athletic training program.

“Dylan has worked in our athletic department as a student assistant since the first day he arrived, said St. Catharine athletic director Tom Bystrek. “He knows all aspects of sports information so it was a logical choice for him to move into this position. And his work ethic is unlike any of I have seen for someone his age.”

That work ethic has also served Brown well in the classroom where he has excelled. Entering his junior year he has an overall grade point average of 3.9 including a perfect 4.0 in the last two semesters.

“I guess you can say that I have found my niche,” said Brown. “It has really been sports all along. Now I get to stay with what I love to do. I had no hesitation whatsoever in deciding to take this position and I appreciate the opportunity and those who had the faith in me to do it.”
