Powell makes it three in a row

     For the third week in a row CJ Powell (Louisville, Ky.) was honored in the Mid-South Conference men’s soccer weekly awards.

     Powell was named the Mid-South Conference defensive player of the week for the third week in a row on Monday. In a 2-0 shutout win against Berea on Wednesday, Powell finished with four saves while recording his third shutout of the season. Then in a 3-2 loss in overtime against Cumberland University, Powell recorded nine saves, allowed three goals while playing all 103 minutes in goal for the Patriots.

     The senior goalkeeper ranks second in the Mid-South with 47 saves on the season. Powell also ranks second in the MSC allowing only .87 goals a game. After going 1-1 last week, the Patriots moved to 6-3 and 2-1 in the Mid-South where they currently sit in a tie for second place.

     Powell and the rest of the Patriots will be back in action on Tuesday against number one ranked national Lindsey Wilson College at Barber Soccer Complex at 7 PM.
