Patriot Golfers shine on Day 1

            The Patriot men’s golf team is in a tie for fourth place after the first round of the MSC St. Catharine Fall Invitational at Maywood Golf Course.

 

 The Patriots were led by Aaron Spalding (Springfield, Ky.) who shot a 77 (38-39) in round one. Spalding is in a tie for seventh place. Spalding will enter round two just five shots off the leader who shot a round one 72.

 

 Senior, Matt Bloom (Louisville, Ky.), also turned in a good round one. Bloom shot a 39 on the front nine and followed that up with another 39 on the back nine. Bloom’s 78 in round one is good enough for a tie in 11th. Bloom will start round two six shots off the lead.

 

 Cole Ballard (Bardstown, Ky.) is in a tie for 15th place after round one. Ballard shot a 39 on the front nine; he then shot a 40 on the back nine. Ballard finished with an 18 hole total of 79. His 79 puts him

 two shots behind teammate Aaron Spalding and one behind Matt Bloom.

 

 Will Broady (Greenville, Ky.) and Michael Hardin (Bardstown, Ky.) also fared well in round one. Broady and Hardin shot an 81 and an 82 respectively. Broady will enter round two in a tie for 29th.

 Hardin finished round one in a tie for 31st.

 

 The Patriots as a team finished round one in a tie for fourth place. The Patriots shot a round one total of 315. They will enter round two 10 shots off the lead.

 

 Round two of the MSC St. Catharine Fall Invitational is set to get started Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM at Maywood Golf Course located in Bardstown, Ky.
