Most Wins In a Single Season

Box Score

St Catharine College Patriots moved to 9-5 last night with a convincing win over Cincinnati Christian.  The victory means that it is the programs most winningest season to date, even with four regular season games still to play.

There were returns to the starting line-up for Harry Kirwan and Bradley Wilson, both being passed fitness tests after recent injuries.

The Patriots started the game well and had a great chance in the opening minutes.  Good play by Bradley Wilson released Ashley Woods who rounded the keeper, but the angle was too tight and the side of the net came to the rescue for the visiting Golden Eagles.  Woods wasn't to be denied though and soon after scored a quick fire double.  His first goal was a 20 yard volley after some skill to evade the onrushing defender.  His second goal wa an instinctive turn and finish in the box after a low cross into the box by Junior Marvin Wesselburg.

Woods rhen turned provider as his immaculate cross from the right side of the field was met by Patriots Freshman forward, Max Bristow, who volleyed the ball past the keeper.  The Golden Eagles almost hit back immediately when they cannoned the ball back off the crosssbar. At half time the score was St Catharine 3, Cincinnati Christian 0.

The second half saw St Catharine, again, dominate large portions of the the play. Cincinnati Christian defended well and frustrated the Patriots, and it wasn't until midway through the half that the lead was extended.  Ashley Woods completed his hat trick heading in at the far post.  The rout was finally completed when substitutes Seth Mattingly and Marcello Petroni combined, with the latter curling the ball past the outstretched goalkeeper into the far corner.  The visitors finished the game with nine men after receiving two second half red cards.  Final score, St. Catharine 5, Cincinnati Christian 0.

The Patriots (9-5) travel to Oakland City on Saturday to take on the 7-4-1 Mighty Oaks.
