Strickland strikes again

     For the second time this year and the second time in her Patriot career Jordan Strickland was named the Mid-South Conference Volleyball Player of the Week.

     The junior setter from Lexington, Ky. posted four double-doubles last week for the Patriots. Strickland averaged 10.4 assists a set last week as she helped the Patriots to a 4-1 record last week.

     In her first game of the week Strickland recorded 28 assists in a 3-0 sweep of Pikeville (Ky.). The Patriots then traveled to Fort Wayne, Ind. to compete in the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament at Indiana Tech. In her first game on Friday, Strickland posted a season-high 57 assists and added 18 digs in a 3-2 win against Indiana-Southeast. Strickland posted another double-double in a 3-0 sweep of Kentucky Christian with 32 assists and 15 digs.

     Strickland continued her strong play into Saturday. In her first game on Saturday, Strickland paced the Patriots with 47 assists while adding 10 digs in a 3-2 win over Point Park University. Then in the Patriots only loss of the week against Indiana Tech (3-0), Strickland tallied 33 assists and 13 digs.

     Strickland ended the week with a total of 197 assists and 62 digs. She also pitched in with nine kills and five blocks over the five matches.

     She ranks among the best in not only the conference, but also in the nation. Strickland leads the Mid-South with 1,216 assists. She also leads the MSC with 10.3 assist a set. She ranks fifth in the conference with 401 digs on the season. Nationally, Strickland ranks among the best in the country. She ranks eighth in the country in assists and 17th in assists per set.

     Strickland and the rest of the Patriots will be back in action on Thursday, October 30th when they travel to Indiana University Southeast at 7 PM.
