Patriots Beat Southern State

Saturday, August 15 - The St. Catharine College Patriot soccer team hosted Southern State College out of Hillsboro, Ohio in an exhibition match today. With the weather blistering hot, both teams took to the field for their first scrimmage of the 2009 season. St. Catharine controlled from the outset with Patrick Williams opening the scoring in the first half. Sheldon Lucas put in a another goal for the Patriots who led 2 - 0 at the break.

After the intermission, the Patriots continued to control the play and were able to net two more scores, a second by Lucas, and a goal by freshman, Isaac Blanford. The Patriot defense held strong throughout, only allowing 3 shots in the game by Southern State. William Johnston and Adam Gilchrist split time in the goal for the Patriots.

Next up for the Patriot Soccer Team will be an exhibition match against Kentucky Wesleyan College in Owensboro on Saturday, August 22.
