Bristow and Powell sweep MSC Players of the Week

     For the third time this season the Patriot Men’s Soccer team has swept the Mid-South Men’s Soccer Players of the Week honors. However, this time it isn’t Ashley Woods, it’s Max Bristow and CJ Powell who swept.

     Max Bristow, a freshman forward from Exeter, England, scored three goals last week en route to being named Mid-South Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Against Brescia University, Bristow netted his first career hat trick in the 5-1 win. Bristow failed to score against Shawnee State University, but he did record a shot in the 1-0 win. Bristow is fifth in the Mid-South with eight goals on the season and he also ranks fifth in the conference averaging .47 goals a game.

     Senior goalkeeper CJ Powell, was named Mid-South Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row and fifth time this season. The Louisville, Ky. native didn’t allow a goal in 173 minutes in goal last week for the Patriots. Against Brescia, Powell recorded three saves in 83 minutes in goal. He then tallied eight saves in 90 minutes in goal in a 1-0 win against Shawnee State. Powell lead the Mid-South with 73 saves on the season and he also is tops in the MSC with 4.9 saves a game. He ranks second in the MSC and 30th in the nation allowing .94 goals a game.

     The Patriots will enter the Mid-South Conference Tournament as the third seed. They will host sixth seeded Shawnee State at 3 PM (EST) on Saturday, November 8th. The Patriots defeated Shawnee State 1-0 last Saturday.
