Patriots fall to No. 19 Lindsey Wilson

     The Patriot women’s basketball squad (3-8, 0-5 MSC) had a quick turnaround after playing on Thursday night. On Saturday they were back on the road against Lindsey Wilson College (8-2, 2-2 MSC).

     Kayla Wilson (Corbin, Ky.) led all scorers in the game with 17 points. Sasha Ruiz-Lopez (Ft. Myers, Fla.) pitched in with 11 points. The Patriots shot 37.5% from the field and 45% from the three.

     The Patriots didn’t get on the board until they were down 13-0 four minutes into the game. Kayla Wilson finally got the Patriots on the board with a trey, but after the three the Blue Raiders went on an 8-0 run to take a 21-3 lead. The Patriots went on a 16-6 run and cut the lead to eight after Wilson hit another three. Lindsey Wilson took a 38-26 lead into the locker room.

     The Blue Raiders opened the second half on a 17-6 run to push their lead to its largest of the game at 57-32 with 12:11 remaining. St. Catharine cut the lead to 18 after another three by Kayla Wilson, but Lindsey Wilson quickly pushed the lead back to 25 with 5:38 left. The Patriots fought back with a quick 7-0 spurt to cut the lead to 15, but they never got closer than 12 as they fell to the Blue Raiders 76-62.

     The Patriots will have another quick turnaround when they host Midway College tonight at 7 PM. In their earlier meeting this year on October 29th, the Eagles defeated the Patriots 64-57.
