Patriot Grapplers in action at Missouri Valley

The “Grappling Patriots” returned to action last weekend in the Missouri Valley College Invitational. The team was looking to bounce back after their 37-12 loss to MSC power, Campbellsville University.

“It was a good weekend for our guys. For some of our guys this was their first individual tournament, so it was good for them to get this experience under the belt,” stated head coach Spencer Adams. “This tournament was loaded with tough competition, it was a good learning experience for our guys to face some tough competition heading into regionals and nationals.”

It was a two day tournament that started on Friday night and ended on Saturday afternoon. The first two rounds took place on Friday and the remainder of the tournament was played out on Saturday. Since it was a two day tournament there were weigh-ins on both days. “We had most our guys make weight on both days and that was good for them because nationals works the same way where it’s a two day weigh-in” continued Adams.

“We had a couple of guys that had the chance to place, but we just couldn’t close out the matches.”

     Full Individual Results:

“We had a lot of coaches ask about us and how we are doing so that was encouraging to hear that from them because we are a first year program,” said Adams.

The Patriot grapplers will return to action on Tuesday, January 27th when they host the University of the Cumberlands and Cumberland University in a tri-meet.
