Senior pitcher John Werner (Anaheim, CA)was named Mid-South Conference Pitcher of the Week for his strong outing Sunday against Viterbo University. Werner is the second Patriot of the year to be named by the MSC.

Werner tossed 7 shutout innings against the V-Hawks, allowing 1 hit while striking out 12 batters in route to his second shutout in the last two outings. He has thrown 14 consecutive innings without allowing a run. And, during that span, he has allowed just 3 hits and has walked just 1 batter.

On the year, Werner has a 3-1 record - his only loss was at the University of Mobile where he lost 1-0. He has 37 strikeouts in 25 innings and opponents are hitting .094. Werner has a 1.08 ERA and he has logged 3 complete games on the year and has yet to reach 100 pitches in a game.

"Werner has been a workhorse for us," commented Luther Bramblett. "He has given us a chance to win every time out. He has had great command of his pitches and has competed his tail off. His hard work and competitive nature is showing in the results on the mound."
