Patriots ink Bosnian Duo

Thursday, June 4 - The St. Catharine College Men's Soccer team announce the signing of two native Bosnian players who currently reside in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Ninel Zukanovic and Fejzulah Avdic signed NAIA letters of intent to officially join the Patriot Soccer program.

Zukanovic, the son of Nezir and Rabija Zukanovic, immigrated to the US in 2003. He has been a standout forward and midfielder for Scott Gural at Greenwood High School. He was a 4 year Letterman, has earned All District and All Region honors, as well as being named "Outstanding Offensive Player," winning the "Leadership Award," and leading the team in scoring with 22 goals and 9 assists in 2008. He also played club soccer with SKY Soccer Club where his team won the Nike Cup - Ohio tournament. Ninel plans to study Health Sciences and he stated, "I am happy to sign, and ready to play!"

Avdic, who goes by Fuji, is the son of Mujo and Razija Avdic and they immigrated to the US in 1999. Avdic was a Defender on Kyle Alford's Warren Central squad where he was a 4 year Letterman, was named Academic All State, and was a key player in the schools first ever Regional Qualifying team. He also played for the same SKY Soccer Club team as Ninel, that won the Nike Cup - Ohio tournament. Fuji is eyeing Health Science as a major and says, "I am excited and can't wait to get to St. Catharine and play!"
