Werner Named MSC Pitcher of the Week

This is his second MSC honor this year

For the second time this spring, John Werner has been named MSC Pitcher of the Week. Werner pitched a three-hit shutout against Cumberland (Tenn.) last week to earn conference pitcher of the week honors.

The Anaheim, California, senior struck out six Bulldogs in St. Catharine's 3-0 win. During the win, Werner secured his fourth complete game and third shutout of the season.

Werner -- who is 5-1 on the season -- has allowed just one run over the last 31-2/3 innings of work. Werner leads the Mid-South in ERA (0.85), opponent's batting average (.117) and strikeouts (55) and is tied for first in wins. He ranks second in the NAIA in opponent's batting average, 11th in strikeouts and is 15th in ERA. St. Catharine is 15-7 overall and leads the Mid-South with a 5-1 conference mark.

The next Mid-South Conference weekly baseball awards will be announced on Monday, March 30.
