Patriot Baseball in NAIA Polls

Ranked for third stright week

St. Catharine College is receiving votes for the NAIA top 25 for the third week in a row. The Patriots improved their position after splitting a DH at #18 Campbellsville University this past weekend.


The Patriots are in a three-way tie atop the Mid-South Conference at (8-3) with #16 Campbellsville and #26 Lindsey Wilson College. The Patriots sit at #36 with 10 votes.

St. Catharine (22-9) is led by their pitching and defense. The staff is 2nd in the MSC behind Campbellsville with a 2.77 ERA which is 8th nationally. They lead the MSC with a .970 fielding percentage, which puts them 6th nationally.

John Werner (Anaheim, CA) leads the Pats on the mound with a 7-1 record and 0.60 ERA. His ERA is tops in the MSC and 4th in the nation. Opponents are batting .137 off of Werner which puts him 2nd nationally and 1st in the MSC. Steven Borkowski (San Diego, CA) has a 4-3 slate with a 3.00 ERA.

Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) is pacing the Patriots at the plate. The senior short stop is batting .396 which is 4th in the MSC. He has 9 doubles, a triple and 18 RBI's. Dominique Guevara (Oxnard, CA) and Santiago Arce (Chula Vista, CA) both lead the Pats with 21 RBI's and are batting .333 and .315 respectively. Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) and Alfredo Bohorquez (Maraciabo, Venezuela) lead the Patriots with 26 runs scored each. Diaz has 20 RBI's and Bohorquez has a team leading 16 stolen bases.
