Patriot Cheer inks three for 2015-16

     The Patriot cheerleading team has now entered the offseason and that means that recruiting is about to pick up for Head Coach Angel Thompson and Graduate Assistant Coach Pilar Espinosa.

     The duo of Thompson and Espinosa snagged their first three commitments for the 2015-16 cheerleading season. Janaiz Ramos, Sydney Fleming and Briana Philpott gave their commitment to join the Patriot Cheerleading program. The trio reside in Louisville, Ky. where they are seniors at Waggener High School.

     Janaiz Ramos is a member of the honor roll at Waggener High School. She is also a member of the Beta Club and has earned her CNA certification. She also has cheerleading awards to go along with her academic awards that include, in her senior year she was captain of the cheerleading team, then in her junior year she was named co-captain of the team. Ramos said that she plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice when she comes to St. Catharine.

     Sydney Fleming on the other hand, has similar achievements as Ramos. Fleming has received excellent grades while attending Waggener. She is also a member of the Beta Club, and like Ramos has earned her CNA certification. Fleming was voted by her peers as the co-captain of the cheerleading team in her senior year. She stated that she plans on pursuing a degree in nursing.

     Briana Philpott, like Fleming, said that she plans to get a degree in nursing. Philpott like her counterparts has similar academic and athletic awards. She is a member of the A/B honor roll, she is a member of the Beta Club. Philpott has also earned her CNA certification while attending Waggener. She was named co-captain of the cheerleading team in her senior year and was voted by her peers as the most improved.

     Patriot Cheerleading Head Coach, Angel Thompson state, “I am really excited to get to work with Sydney, Briana, and Janaiz in the coming years. They’re a great addition not only to the team, but they are also great students.”

     The trio of Ramos, Fleming and Philpott will arrive on campus in August 2015 when they will begin their fall semester.
