Mighty Oaks Stand Tall Over the Patriots

St. Catharine College (26-11) was swept Wednesday in a DH at Oakland City University, losing 6-5 and 2-1. Both loses were the first mid-week games the Patriots have dropped this spring.

OCU 6 - SC 5

The Oaks scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning in route to a walk off victory in the opener. The Patriots led 5-2 going into the bottom half of the inning and three relievers spoiled a solid start by Conner Lindsay (Nicholasville, KY). Lindsay went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits in the no decision. Omar Hernandez (Fresno, CA) started the 7th and allowed the first two guys on via a HBP and a walk -- both eventually scored. Tyler Jones (Huntington Beach, CA) took the loss, allowing 2 runs (both unearned) on 2 hits, a walk and recording an out. James Davenport (Louisville, KY) allowed a run on an error and got an out on a sac fly that ended the game.

Drew Kissel (Jeffersonville, IN) went 2-4 with 2 runs. Santiago Arce (Chula Vista, CA) went 2-3 with a RBI. Dominique Guevara (Oxnard, CA) went 1-2 and scored twice via Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) RBI's. Gonzalez went 1-4. Carlos Cespedes (Santo Domingo, DR) went 2-3 and Alfredo Bohorquez (Maracaibo, Venezuela) had a 2 run homer.

OCU 2 - SC 1

In a pitchers duel, the Oaks scored twice in the bottom of the 6th to take the nightcap 2-1. Austin Willis-Greene (Manhattan, NY) suffered the loss, tossing 5.1 innings, allowing 2 (1 earned) runs on 2 hits. He had 4 K's and walked 2. Alex Knowles (Huntington Beach, CA) came in a recorded 2 outs and allowed a hit.

The Patriots could only muster 3 hits in the loss. Francisco Gonzalez went 1-3 with a run scored on a Carlos Cespedes ground out. Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) went 1-3 and Cody Kollenberg (PeeWee Valley, KY) went 1-2 with the other base knock.

St. Catharine is back in action this weekend, heading to Columbia, KY to visit Lindsey Wilson College in a Mid-South Conference series.
