Blue Raiders Sweep the Patriots

The Patriots lost both ends Saturday, dropping the opener 9-3 and losing on a walk off single in the bottom of the 7th in the nightcap, 2-1. The sweep drops the Patriots out of 1st place into 2nd with a overall record of (27-13, 12-5 MSC).

LWC 9 - SC 3

The Patriots were in control of the opener, up 3-2 heading into the 6th. The Blue Raiders scored 7 runs to chase starter Steven Borkowski (San Diego, CA). Borkowski went 5.1 innings, allowing 9 runs, 8 earned on 8 hits. He struck out 4 and walked 1. Freshman Nathan Getzin (Louisville, KY) tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief. He allowed 3 hits and tallied 2 K's.

Santiago Arce (Chula Vista, CA) led the way at the plate, going 4-4 with a double and a run. Harold Diaz (Gurabo, PR) went 2-3 with a run and a RBI double. The Patriots tallied 8 hits in the contest.

LWC 2 - SC 1

The Blue Raiders scored a run in the 6th and run in the 7th on a 2 out walk off single. Starter Daniel Lerma (Oxnard, CA) tossed 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. He walked 4 and K'd 3.

St. Catharine could only muster 5 base knocks. The Patriots scored a run in the 1st inning on a RBI single by Harold Diaz scoring pinch runner Lamont Calloway (Louisville, KY) who was running for Drew Kissel (Jeffersonville, IN) who singled. Alfredo Bohorquez (Maracaibo, Venezuela), Francisco Gonzalez (San Diego, CA) and Tyler Devine (Harrodsburg, KY) were the only other Bat Pat hits. The Patriots left 3 runners stranded at 2nd.

St. Catharine is back in action this week with Union College. They host the Bulldogs on Tuesday and go there on Wednesday.
