Bloom and Team still in third after Day Two

Results

     Matt Bloom and the Patriot men’s golf team continue to maintain a grip on third place at the 2015 Bardstown LEE’s Famous Recipe Mid-South Conference Championship at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood after round two of the three round event was completed this afternoon.

     Bloom, a Louisville, Ky. native finished the first round in third place out of 45 golfers. Although Bloom struggled in the second round, he continues to maintain a hold of third place. He carded a 71 on day one; he then followed that up with a five over par 77 in the second round. Bloom will enter the final round needing to erase a two stroke deficit to Chris Butler who leads at two over par.

     Michael Hardin (Bloomfield, Ky.), like Bloom struggled in the second round. Hardin completed his first round with a 73, but struggled on day two with an 80. He sits in 13th place after 36 holes.

     Aaron Spalding (Springfield, Ky.) was also in action at Maywood completing the second round. Spalding finished with a 77 in the opening round and followed that up with an 80 in the second round. Spalding currently sits in a tie for 20th with 18 holes remaining.

     Michael Vuick (Taylorsville, Ky.) and Chaz Bowen (Louisville, Ky.) showed improvement in the second round. Vuick shot an 83 in the first round; he followed that up with an 80 in the second round. Bowen, who is competing as an individual for the Patriots, found his stroke in the second day finishing with an 86. He improved upon his 89 in the opening round. The Patriots as a team were at one point in fourth, but fought back and were able to maintain third place.

     The Patriots as a team carded a 300 in the opening round, but faltered in round two with a 317. Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) finished the second round with a 295 and took over the top spot from Cumberlands (Ky.), who finished with a 310.

     The Mid-South Conference Championship will conclude tomorrow when play begins at 8:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. Live scoring for the event is available for the event here.
