McKenty's Hole-In-One Highlights Final Round

     The Patriot women’s golf team finished up the final round at the 2015 Bardstown LEE’s Famous Recipe Mid-South Conference Championship at Bardstown Country Club at Maywood.

     The highlight of the final round came when Ashley McKenty stepped into the tee box at the fifth hole, a 125 yard par three third. McKenty took a swing and the ball landed on the green, took one bounce and rolled into the hole for a hole-in-one. The rare feat was the only eagle in the three rounds at the Mid-South Conference Championship.

     McKenty, a Benton, Ky. native, showed improvement over the three days. She finished the first round with a 106, but she was able to recover and finish with a 94 in the second round and then she finished the final round with a 96.

     Taylor Ritchie (Winchester, Ky.) also wrapped up her three rounds at Maywood. Ritchie, like McKenty showed improvement over the 54-hole event. After finishing up a 100 in the opening round, Ritchie finished on a high note with a 96 in the second round and then carded a 98 in the final round.

     Brianna Cornett (Danville, Ky.) struggled in the third round shooting a 104. Cornett’s best round came in the second round on Monday where she finished with a 96.

     It was a bittersweet day for senior Drew Ison. Ison, a native of Winchester, Ky., wrapped up the final round of her collegiate career this afternoon. Ison finished the opening round with a 112, but was able to recover in the second round shooting a 103. She finished up with a 108 in the final round.

     Fellow Mid-South Conference member, Cumberlands (Ky.) took home the title of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. They finished with a three round total of 922 edging out second place Campbellsville (Ky.).

     The Patriots will now look to the offseason to fine tune their skills on the golf course.
