Patriot Assistant Stroop Wins Summer League Title

After a successful first stint handling the Patriot hurlers this past spring, assistant baseball coach Stephanos Stroop parlayed that into a successful summer as the Head Coach of the Strasburg Express in the Valley Baseball League.

Stroop led the Express to the league title, which is the first in franchise history. They had the best record in the first half of the summer and he was named the Head Coach of the North Division in the All-Star game - also for the first time in franchise history.

He led Strasburg through a playoff run that included a 2-0 series sweep of Aldie, a 2-1 series win over Front Royal and the final Lineweaver Cup winning series (2-1) over #23 ranked Staunton. The Express finished the summer with a 27-23 record and Stroop was named the Mo Weaver manager of the year for these accomplishments - also a first in franchise history.

"Overall, it was a great experience," noted Stephanos Stroop. "The support from the Neal family and Patriot skipper Luther Bramblett helped me develop as a coach this summer. I truly believe this experience didn't only help me, but will help our program at St. Catharine as we look to build off of last years success."
