Box Score

St. Catharine, Ky. – The Patriot women’s soccer team (2-4, 1-1 MSC) was in action last night against the undefeated Tigers of Campbellsville University. The Tigers (8-0, 2-0 MSC) used three goals in the opening frame and four more in the second half to come away with the 7-2 win.

Kindsay Miller-Riney (Bardstown, Ky.) scored the first goal of the game not even two minutes in. But the Tiger offense scored seven unanswered goals before the Patriots scored again in the 85th minute. Vannah Moreland (Marietta, Ga.) scored her second goal of the season to make the final score 7-2.

It took just minutes before the Patriots got on the scoreboard first. Kindsay Miller-Riney netted her second goal of the season after she lofted a shot from just outside the 18-yard box that made its way past the goal keeper and into the back of the net.

The lead, however, didn’t last long as the Tigers’ high powered offense got going. The Tiger offense leads the nation with 34 goals on the year and is averaging better than four goals a game. Rachel Veatch netted a hat trick in the first half after she scored goals in the 4th, 10th, and 38th minutes to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead at the half.

In the second half, Campbellsville picked up right where they left off in the first. The Tigers made their lead 6-1 after scoring three goals in the opening seven minutes of the second half. The Tigers scored their final goal of the game in the 73rd minute when Mhairi Fyfe netted her second goal of the game.

Vannah Moreland capped off the scoring for the Patriots in the 85th minute. Moreland took a pass and made her way inside the box and fired a shot that snuck past the Tigers’ goalkeeper and into the back of the net.

Jerrica Kidd (Stanford, Ky.) suffered her first loss of the season in goal. Kidd (2-1) recorded nine saves while playing all 90 minutes in goal. The Tigers outshot the Patriots 23-14 including 16-9 in shots on goal.

St. Catharine will return to action on Saturday, September 19th, when they travel to the “Buckeye State” to take on Mount Vernon Nazarene University at 2 p.m. ET.
