Men's Soccer Beats Crown in Rainstorm

Tuesday, October 27 - The Patriot Men's Soccer team hosted The Crown College in a match at Barber field on the picturesque campus of St. Catharine College today. In a driving rainstorm, on a muddy field, the Patriots looked to put the loss to Lindsey Wilson behind them and get back on the winning track.

They did so in a big way today. Playing quickly and with passion from the beginning they put away 7 goals in the first half. As the second half wore on, and the field got worse, both teams became bogged down in the mud. SCC and Crown each scored 1 second half goal before the referee called the game in the 71st minute for dangerous playing conditions with the final score SCC 8 - Crown 1.

James Portner and Rex Catron each scored 2 goals on the game. Sheldon Lucas and Mark Trivette each scored 1 goal. Patrick Williams added 1 goal and 3 assists while Travis Young had 1 goal and 1 assist. Isaac Blanford earned 2 assists, while Glenn Cashdollar added 1. SCC Goalkeeper Will Johnston allowed only 1 goal in 71 minutes of play.
