Patriot Baseball Releases Schedule

Coming off their best season since joining the NAIA, the Patriots turn to 2016 with excitement and released their 2016 spring schedule. 14 games against teams that played post-season games in 2015 highlight the slate.

2016 Spring Schedule

"We're excited about the schedule," noted 15 year mentor Luther Bramblett. "This schedule is the toughest we've had since joining the NAIA in 2009 and I think the conference is the best its ever been. With the new ranking system and strength of schedule component, it is vital to play quality competition as much as possible. Our opponents had a 477-413 record last year with a .536 winning percentage."

The Patriots open with a four game series at the University of Mobile (36-20). The Rams were in and out of the top 25 for much of the year in 2015 and had two players drafted. The following weekend, the Pats travel to Freed-Hardeman University for another four game set with the Lions. FHU (37-16) finished the year ranked and played in the opening round.

The home opener is week three when the Patriots host Calumet College of St. Joseph (14-29) and perennial regional power Indiana Tech University (32-27). Week four brings in Madonna University (37-17) who was ranked and played in the opening round in '15. The last weekend before conference play, the Patriots host Huntington University (27-15) for a weekend series.

The Mid-South Conference gauntlet starts the second weekend of March with the Pats traveling to Georgetown College (18-18). St. Catharine will also visit Shawnee State University (18-29) and The University of the Cumberlands (26-27). The MSC home opener will be the third weekend in March when the Patriots host Campbellsville University (30-13), the regular season winners last year. SC will also host Cumberland University (20-31), University of Pikeville (17-28) and World Series participant last year Lindsey Wilson College (41-19).

This year's mid-week action looks to be a challenge as well. The Pats will host 1st year program Cincinnati Christian University and travel to Southern State Conference foe Bethel University (18-26). A home and home series with regional powers Indiana University Southeast (37-18) and Union College (33-19) are must see games. The Patriots will also have home and home matchups with Brescia University (18-35) and NCAA DII Oakland City University (18-26).

The Mid-South Conference post-season tournament has changed this year with the top four teams hosting a best of three series for the right to go to Bowling Green for the final four Championship. That tournament begins on April 29th with the final four starting May 5th.
