Patriot Women Build Winning Streak on the Road

The Patriot Women's Soccer team went on the road after a tough 0-3 stretch and built the beginnings of a winning streak.

Nearing the end of the season, the team traveled to Kentucky Christian University on Tuesday and pulled out a 13-2 victory after a slow start. The Knights of KCU scored the 1st goal of the game and were within 1 goal with the score 2-3 when the Patriots took off, scoring 7 more goals to take a 10-2 lead by halftime. Three more goals in the second half finished off the scoring. The Patriot goals were scored by; Vannah Morelan (3), Bethany Massey (2), Kindsay Miller-Riney (2), Nicole Schowalter (2), Courtney Anderson, Malorie Steele, Mary Ezaizat, and Amanda Schabell. Assists by; Kindsay Miller-Riney (3), Destiny Golden (2), Bethany Massey (2), Vannah Moreland, Carrie Isaacs, Nicole Schowalter.

After a travel day, the team took on Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina. This was a tight match throughout and the Patriots came through with a 2-1 victory after Courtney Anderson scored the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute. Kindsay Miller-Riney opened the scoring 35 seconds into the match after beating an Owl defender and slotting home her shot. Vannah Moreland assisted on the game winner.

Two victories in a row bring the Patriots record back to 7-10-0 on the season.  The Patriots will finish off the regular season at home on Saturday, October 31 against Conference rival, Pikeville.
