Wolz tabbed Interim Athletic Director

St. Catharine, Ky. – St. Catharine College has announced that Tim Wolz will serve as the Interim Athletic Director for the remainder of the 2015-16 athletic year. Wolz will take over for Tom Bystrek who resigned from the position in December.

Wolz, who also serves as the St. Catharine men’s soccer coach for the past six seasons noted, “I am excited about the opportunity to help the college smoothly transition from one administrator to another.”

In the 2014 season Wolz guided the Patriots to their most successful in its history. They finished with a 15-6 record and a spot in the Mid-South Conference Championship game where they fell to eventual champion Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).

For his team’s work in the 2014 season, Wolz was awarded with Southeast Region Coach of Year honors as well as being named MSC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year. He became the only coach in the history of the Mid-South to be awarded Coach of the Year for both the men and the women.

He was awarded the Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year when he served as the head coach at Cumberlands (Ky.), where he coached for eight years. During his stint with UC, Wolz served as an assistant coach for three seasons and head coach for five. He has also been an Assistant Coach for the Louisville Lightning in the Professional Arena Soccer League.

Wolz has also served as the head coach for Coker College in Hartsville, S.C. for two season and he was on staff at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. for two seasons.

Wolz attended St. Xavier High School in Louisville, Ky. then he went on to play soccer at Western Kentucky University.

He received his Master’s Degree in Sports Administration from Western Kentucky University where he was elected to the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

“It is a fantastic school to be a part of and I am excited to see where it goes,” noted Wolz.
