St. Catharine, Ky. – Anastayzia Reed hit a triple with 3:10 to go that would give the St. Catharine women’s basketball team for good in their 68-60 win over Wilberforce (Ohio) on Tuesday night.

The Patriots now move to 5-11 on the year as they jump back into Mid-South Conference play beginning on Thursday night when they host 17th ranked and undefeated Pikeville (Ky.) at 6 p.m. ET. Then on Saturday the Patriots host Cumberlands (Ky.) at 2 p.m. ET.

Reed, a native of Versailles, Ky., posted a career-high 12 points in 19 minutes of action. She notched all of her points from long range where she finished 4-of-7 for the night. Nikcoa Jackson (Louisville, Ky.) also notched a new career-high as she finished with 19 points and six rebounds.

After taking a 17-8 lead in the second quarter, Reed found an opening and nailed a trey to give her team a 14-point lead with two minutes remaining in the half. The Bulldogs (3-15) made a late surge cutting the lead to nine, 32-23, at intermission.

Wilberforce continued with their run in the third frame after they went on a 13-3 to take their first lead of the game at 36-35. They led by as many as seven in the quarter, but back-to-back 3’s by Kayla Wilson (Corbin, Ky.) and Reed cut the Bulldog advantage to 51-50 heading into the final 10 minutes.

The two teams traded buckets in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter, but Reed nailed her final triple to give the Patriots the lead with 3:10 remaining. After trailing 58-57, the Patriots closed the game out on an 11-2 run to come away with the 68-60 win.

Miranda Wilson (Corbin, Ky.) and Kayla Wilson also notched double figures finishing with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Patrice Tonge (Lebanon, Ky.) only had four points, but she also had nine assists and seven rebounds. Kayla Wilson matched Tonge with nine assists as well.

Making the extra pass was the key for the Patriots as they had 21 assists on 24 made field goals. The Patriots shot 42 percent for the night as the Bulldogs finished a notch better at 44 percent. St. Catharine held a considerable advantage from three where they went 12-of-21 for the night and Wilberforce made one in nine attempts.
