Women's Soccer Draws at Spalding in Spring Game

The Patriot Women's Soccer team traveled to Louisville to take Spalding University in their only spring match on Saturday.  With Seniors moving on and several players out with injuries for both teams, the spring game is a chance for the coaches to work on line-up combinations and set the stage for the upcoming fall campaign.

Patriot Head Coach, Paul Patton was able to play all nineteen players in attendance and work with several different combinations on the field.  The game ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes.  Bethany Massey and Vannah Moreland each earned a goal and an assist on the day.  Patriot goalkeepers, Emily Belt and Jerrica Kidd, split time in goal and allowed 1 goal apiece.

Coach Patton commented on the match, "I think the result was about right.  We played a lot of different combinations, we tried several things, and we had several players out for various reasons.  The goals we scored were well executed while the goals were areas we need to work on.  At the end of the day, we played hard and we played together which is what I asked for.  Looking ahead to the fall, if we can play a good team defense, I like where we are offensively.  I think we have a chance to put together a great season."
