In a Mid-South Conference soccer doubleheader Tuesday at Barber Soccer Field, the visiting Campbellsville Tigers swept St. Catharine. The women’s game ended in a 6-0 victory for the Tigers while the men’s contest was a 4-1 victory for the visitors.

Brittany Spicer scored two first half goals for Campbellsville as the Tigers led 2-0 at the intermission. Then, in a 14 minute span in the second half Campbellsville added four more goals for the final score. Cassie Yanneli had two of those goals while Audra Hockenberger scored the other two.

The Patriots were able to get five shots on goal but none found the net as goalkeepers Brandie Hagerman and Erin Grimsley combined for the Campbellsville shutout.

The win brought Campbellsville to a 5-4 overall record and a 2-1 slate in the MSC. The Patriots are 4-5 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

In the men’s action, the Tigers (8-2, 1-2) scored 14 minutes into the game on a goal by Jamie Allen. They took a 2-0 lead into halftime on a goal by Ramiro Sanchez in the 21st  minute.

Then, only one minute into the second half, Gustavo Valecillos scored and four minutes later John Kennedy headed in a corner kick and the Tigers led 4-0.

St. Catharine (3-5-1, 1-2) got its only goal with 29 minutes to play from Sam Kpoh. That shot was one of only two shots on goal for the Patriots.
